Who We Are

The Goedemoed Animal Hospital was opened in 1998 by Dr. Garth Mills in a converted garage before moving to the current purpose-built facility. In 2001, Dr. Stephen Maberly joined the practice adding his expertise to the team. What started as a small one-man practice has grown into a busy, fully equipped veterinary hospital with three veterinarians, one veterinary nurse, three customer relationship personnel, and two hospital assistants. We strive to offer a high level of diagnostic, medical and surgical care.

Our Team

Dr. Stephen Maberly – Veterinarian

30 years after qualifying, I am challenged daily to be better and learn more. I have been privileged to practice, laugh and cry with great colleagues. Our family continues to grow; 4 cats rule the house, 2 teenagers and my wife and God that supports me through it all.

Since qualifying in 2015 as a veterinary nurse, I have developed a passion for critical care and anaesthesia. I have a soft spot for small, fluffy dogs and love developing strong relationships with client and their pets. I am greatful for amazing colleagues who make word very rewarding. Outside of work, you'll find me hiking, painting or making beautiful music.

I am a dedicated veterinary nurse, qualified since 2018. Personally, nursing is both a calling and a passion. I'm committed to enhancing pets' quality of life and educating pet owners on resposible care. Always ready to face challenges, I strive to do what is best for every animal, every day.

Sigourney – Financial Administrator

With a passion for both finance and animals, I found the perfect balance at Goedemoed Vet. I believe that if you love what you do it won't feel like a job. I am also a proud dog-mom of 3 beautiful fur babies that I adore.

I have been working at Goedemoed Animal Hospital since 2007 and enjoy the personal interaction with our clients and furry friends. I am also the proud mother of 2 beautiful adult children.

I started working at Goedemoed Animal Hospital in 2012 and am enjoying every minute of it! I have a zoo of my own, 2 kitties, Kerneels & Sylvester, a senior doggo, Bienkie and a cheerful budgie, Blondie.

After working in a vetshop, I am delighted to have the opportunity to work at Goedemoed Animal Hospital. At home I love spending time with my family and 2 fluffy senior Pekingese.

Coming from Malawi, I started working for the Goedemoed Animal Hospital in 2009. I love working with our patients, giving them the love and care that they need when they are in hospital. My wife and I have 3 beautiful children, Faith, Prosper and Shalom, that brings joy to our lives.
